Looking for the best virtual mailbox service?
In this review, we’ll go over the details of PostScan Mail and explain how it compares to others on the market.
Overview
Headquartered in Anaheim, California, PostScan Mail has been providing virtual mailbox services for 10 years. They now boast over 400 address locations across the U.S and are currently one of the major players in the virtual mailbox space.
They are also one of the rare virtual mailbox services that also have dedicated package forwarding services aimed at international shoppers.
Due to good growth in the sector, PostScan mail also caters to business users, with business virtual addresses and services as well as automated mailroom options.
With all that said, is PostScan Mail the right virtual mailbox for you? Today, we’ll explore its features and prices, customer reviews, and rate its specific services overall.
Our Approach:
For our PostScan Mail review, we have focused on four main questions:
- Is PostScan Mail a good deal?
- Who are their packages best suited for?
- Are there better deals available?
- Who uses PostScan Mail and how did they rate their experience?
PostScan Mail Summary
PostScan Mail has plans available across both personal and business categories. This allows the provider to cater to a large range of customers.
The price of the plans itself is firmly in the middle when compared to the competition, and while not being the cheapest available mailbox provider, PostScan Mail does have responsive and helpful customer services.
For many customers, the service works reliably and is trouble-free. Work needs to be done on the phone apps in terms of functionality. It would also be good to see features such as check deposits and free shredding made available.
The mailroom plans are very much in line with Earth Class Mail, so it is worth checking out their offers before deciding on which provider to go for. Overall, however, PostScan Mail is a provider you can trust with your virtual mailbox needs.
PostScan Mail Pros
- A range of price plans catering for both personal and business needs
- Good customer service with helpful staff and responses
- Package fowarding available for international shopping
- Business and Enterprise plans have high monthly quotas
- A well designed web app for good user experience
PostScan Mail Cons
- The phone app lacks some important features
- More additional costs than competing services
- No live chat facility for customer support
- Doesn’t offer check deposit
PostScan Mail Alternatives
A good option for personal use is available through Traveling Mailbox. This has lots of available virtual addresses located across the U.S. Anytime Mailbox and US Global Mail are also recommended for small volume users looking for a bargain. Earth Class Mail is a comparable choice with its Mailroom Plans, so worth checking its offers if you are a large business.
PostScan Mail Ratings
Value – 3.5/5
PostScan Mail has priced its packages in a way that is competitive in the current marketplace.
The lowest-priced plan is the starter at $15p/mo for 1 recipient. The quotas are relatively low, however, at 30 incoming items and 5 scans before you have to pay extra.
Traveling Mailbox actually offers more in the way of quotas at this low monthly price point. The PostScan Mail standard package fares better and is a good option for personal use, (60 incoming items and 10 scans. If you expect a larger volume than this, the Premium Plan at $30 per month offers double the amount of quota than the Standard plan.
Unlimited cloud storage is available with PostScan mail which is good. Not so good is the fact they do not offer a quota on free shredding each month. This could add up if you expect to receive sensitive materials.
Storage times are equal to much of the competition, with 30 days free on envelopes and 7 days on packages before fees apply. (You can get better rates with a Package Forwarder such as USA2ME on these storage times.)
The Mailroom plans are much higher in price, (more on this service below) however, they are competitive when compared to Earth Class Mail, and could suit larger businesses looking for a better deal.
Customer Service – 4/5
No live chat support with PostScan Mail, however, customer services are available 7 days a week
PostScan Mail has customer support staff available 7 days a week which is good. They are accessible on the phone during office working hours (Mon – Fri: 6 am – 12 am PST) and (7 am – 3 pm weekends), which is actually better than a lot of the competition. It would be good to see Live Chat support, however.
In terms of quality of response and help, PostScan Mail does score highly. A look at many of the verified customer review sites shows a long list of happy customers in terms of the support they have received if and when they have needed assistance. Thumbs up to PostScan Mail for this.
Ease of Use – 4/5
PostScan Mail has a good web app, the phone app has a few issues
The web app that received a big revamp a few years back runs very well indeed. It is clear and easy to use and everything you need to manage your mail is available on the website dashboard.
However, this is a virtual mailbox service and many customers like to manage their mail on the move; i.e via a phone app. It is good to see that PostScan Mail has an app available on both Android and IOS, however, customers have had a few complaints.
A major issue is that the scans are not always very visible over the phone app. There is also no indication of how far the account has gone through its quota for the given month. Considering this is an important bit of information that directly affects your billing, it should be there.
Included Features – 4/5
PostScan Mail includes all the major features you should expect from a virtual mailbox service
Mail management, scanning, storage, and forwarding are all available on even the lowest-priced plan through PostScan Mail. This is good, but essentially to be expected.
The service does fall a little short in that there are no free quotas on shredding on the personal plans, there is no check deposit facility either. If this is important for you, check out US Global Mail as they offer free check depositing on all plans.
Local pickup is available at various addresses which is also good to see (fees may apply).

Mailroom Plans
Startup Mailroom: $100p/mo
The mailroom plans are much better suited to businesses. The Startup option is great for just that, small new companies that are looking to expand. The incoming mail quota is actually unlimited and you also get 60 open and scans and multiple recipients to cater to an expanding small business.
Who should purchase the PostScan Mail Startup Mailroom Plan?
The Startup Plan is designed for small offices and businesses that require an unlimited incoming mail quota, where 60 open and scans per month will suffice.
Business Mailroom: $300p/mo
The Business Mailroom plan is where PostScan Mail aims to cater to larger businesses that are looking for high mail item quotas. Up to 200 mails can be opened and scanned before additional charges kick in. As with the Startup Plan, the incoming mail quota is unlimited. One point to note, Earth Class Mail provides similar Mailroom Plans. The Business Mailroom plan there is actually, $229 per month, for 250 mail items. Definitely worth a look.
Who should purchase the PostScan Mail Business Mailroom Plan?
The Business Plan is designed for medium to large-sized businesses with higher mail volumes (up to 200 open and scans), and the budget to pay a premium number of dollars per month for virtual mailbox services.
Enterprise Mailroom: From $1,029p/mo
The Enterprise Mailroom is for large businesses that will make use of 600 open and scan mail items a month. This plan is actually competitive when compared to the Earth Class Mail (ECM) Enterprise Plan, which starts at $1,029 a month. However, the ECM plan is more suited to large corporations.
Who should purchase the PostScan Mail Enterprise Mailroom Plans?
The Enterprise Plan is designed for large businesses that want to outsource their mailroom requirements and will make use of large open and scan volumes.

“Customer service is excellent, easy to sign up and manage an online portal. online notarization option is an excellent service.”
Of course, not all customer reviews will be as positive as this. Although, in fairness to PostScan Mail they do have a lot of glowing online reviews. Some of the more negative ones include:
“We have unfortunately not had the best of luck. Mail has been routed to the wrong family members (even when names are clear and distinct), and some scans have been very blurry or missing pages!”
“Sometimes Scan pages are upside down and blurry.”
Final Thoughts on PostScan Mail
PostScan Mail is a high-quality mailbox and mailroom service provider that prices itself firmly in the middle when compared to the competition. This essentially means that it is not necessarily the best value operator around.
That being said, with a responsive and helpful customer service section, a clear and easy-to-use website, and the trouble-free experience the service provides, you do get what you pay for, i.e a better quality service.
Work needs to be done on the phone apps in terms of functionality. It would also be good to see features such as check deposits and free shredding added to the list of what you get with PostScan Mail.
The mailroom plans are very much in line with Earth Class Mail, so it is worth checking out their offers before deciding here. Overall, however, PostScan Mail is a provider you can trust with your virtual mailbox needs.
